Cabinet Office

The Role

Working alongside intelligence analysts, the Visual Analysis team creates complex visual assessments for the Prime Minister and other senior officials. As a Visualisation Analyst you will be responsible for imagining, creating and maintaining these visual experiences to help our customers consume intelligence products. Focusing on multiple specialties – such as graphic design, editorial design, data analysis, cartography, illustration and geospatial imagery – you will produce high-impact visuals on a daily basis, and collaborate with subject matter experts on the most important national security issues of the day.

This role requires candidates to obtain STRAP clearance, which is an additional layer of clearance for some sensitive roles in addition to DV. STRAP clearance will be applied for once the candidate has obtained DV clearance in pre-employment checks and both must be confirmed before the successful candidate can start in the role. Candidates that are granted Developed Vetting by the Cabinet Office as part of the recruitment process, but do not take up the post, will have their Developed Vetting clearance lapsed.

Responsibilities

If your application is successful, you will:

  • Contribute to the production of visual products for the JIO which will be included in reports read by the Prime Minister and other senior officials on a daily basis.
  • Pitch creative ideas and collaborate with cross-functional teams including intelligence assessment analysts and JIO Directors. This will enable you to showcase alternative and exciting ways of presenting intelligence assessment.
  • Regularly communicate complex issues through charts, maps and other visual or interactive experiences, often to tight deadlines.
  • Identify useful datasets and validate sources which can feed into informative visual products.
  • Design visuals and lay out assessment working to tight deadlines.
  • Contribute to your team’s wider work or to other JIO work, both to support colleagues and for your own development. You may occasionally be asked to support crisis working or work unsociable hours, often with little or no notice.
