What we do:

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Data and Statistics function provides critical data capabilities in support of a safe and sound financial system.  Our work promotes financial stability, the implementation of domestic and international supervisory policy, and monetary policy. The team’s mission is to increase utility and ability to leverage financial data through standardization, thoughtful collection design, and increase capacity of the Function to scale operations.

You will be part of an optimized and highly effective delivery team in the Data Collection and Analysis Service (DCAS) Department. DCAS provides business and data analysis, data visualization, and risk management services including but not limited to data preparation and capture services, quality assurance services, financial analysis, client services, operational excellence, project and change management, and enhanced controls that mitigate risk for data collections for use primarily by the U.S. Treasury, the Board of Governors and the Bank’s Research and Market Analysis, Markets and Bank Supervision Groups.


Risk Operations and Control (ROC) Division:

The ROC Division is responsible for achieving operational excellence and improving data quality at source through a focus on measurement, continuous improvement and innovation leveraging business process reengineering and technologies.


Your role as an Operational Risk, Controls Specialist (Tableau experience):

In this role in the Risk, Controls, and Measurements Team (RCM) in the ROC, you will be responsible for business analyst, data analyst, and risk management work such as engaging the function in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, tracking and optimization of controls, monitoring risks and controls through reporting, assessing quality across DCAS domains by metrics reporting, trend analysis, and assisting in managing and informing function of operational risk.

  • Assimilate, synthesize and interpret data and trends.
    Analyze data issues and evaluate possible root causes.
    Reach conclusions that are supported by facts and sound reasoning and that recognize broad themes and issues.
    Assess and identify potential operational, legal, compliance, financial statement, reputational, strategic and financial risks that may hinder the function.
    Assist in designing, implementing and maintaining an overall risk management process, and effective measurements and controls.
    Assist in the on-going assessment and evaluation of risk, controls and measurements within the function.
    Build risk awareness amongst the function.
    Use technology tools and data source inputs (ex. Tableau) to support activities.
    Propose effective measurements and controls for the Department’s core business processes.
    Lead or actively participate in Function and System workgroups as assigned.
    Leverage expertise to provide horizontal perspective to Division and Department discussions, actively participate in or lead initiatives of broader impact (e.g., working groups and committee meetings at local and national levels, on-site reviews), and reports and escalates to Function items of note.

    Work cooperatively with all levels of staff and management at this Bank, other Reserve Banks, regulatory agencies, and regulated institutions.
    Excellent organization, prioritization, and self-management skills.
    Proficient skill set including the MS Office suite such as: Excel, Word, Access, Visio, Power Point; and
    Tableau experience is required
    Knowledge/experience in data wrangling and/or business decision modeling is a plus
    Domain expertise for the ROC team:
    Create and monitor productivity/data quality measures
    Understanding linkages between capabilities, technology, process, and governance
    Ability to understand co-dependencies between analytical and technical processes
    Key performance indicators (KPIs), key risk indicators (KRIs), and balanced scorecards reporting

Salary Range: $104400 – $130300 / year
