Who are we?
Proforest is a mission-driven organisation that provides a consultancy service working throughout agricultural supply chains supporting the production and sourcing of agricultural and forest commodities that deliver positive environmental and social outcomes for People, Nature and Climate. These cover issues such as protecting and restoring forests and natural ecosystems, respecting worker’s rights, advancing gender equality, and engaging with communities and indigenous people.
What will you do?
Working as part of a small but dedicated and friendly team you’ll be playing an important role in delivering data expertise within our business and technical operations team. You’ll be primarily providing analytical and administrative support to our business and technical operations team to help us use internal data to improve decision making and better understand our business. Once established within this role you’ll have the opportunity to support our consultancy project teams by sourcing data about agricultural commodity supply chains and displaying it in visual and engaging dashboards and reports.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the business and technical operations team in improving our data processes and tools Improve and maintain our business operations data – ensuring quality and consistency (including timesheets, project tracking, programme management tools etc.)
- Assist with business operations system adaptation, testing and maintenance
- Create and update user guides, training materials, and system documentation
- Once established in role,Build an understanding of the data challenges in commodity supply chains, supplier engagement, and environmental and social reporting frameworks support data workstreams on client projects
- Actively participate in our global data and tech operations teams, and work to build capabilities in our wider operations and consultancy teams through training and knowledge sharing.
What is your profile?
You’ll be analytically minded, inquisitive and eager to learn, someone who appreciates the power of data and its commercial impact. To be considered for this role you will also have:
Essential:
- Experience of checking data quality, manipulating datasets, creating figures using tools such Excel creating data visualisations (this can be within an academic setting) and
- Experience of extracting, cleaning, and transforming data from multiple, dispersed sources
- Excellent time-management, problem-solving and organisational abilities with an eye for detail
A keen interest in environmental and social issues.
Desirable but not essential to have to be considered:
- A related degree with a data/numerical component
- Working knowledge of Spanish, French, Portuguese, Bahasa or Mandarin
- Experience and/or knowledge of PowerBI, Power Query, DAX, Smartsheets, R or other programming languages and/or SQL and simple database design
- Proven presentation skills.

Key information
Location: Oxford (please note due to the central location there is no on-site parking)
Salary: £27,500

Hybrid working: Proforest operates on a hybrid basis. We encourage staff to attend the office to maximise interactions with colleagues and encourage collaboration but also appreciate individual circumstances and preferences. We ask that you attend the office at minimum of twice a week and are happy to explore flexible working options such as part time working.
