WHAT WE DO
As the Operations & Business Intelligence Department, we strive to build capacity for organizational success by focusing on processes, systems, data, and goals. The Operations & Business Intelligence Department accomplishes our vision by focusing on four primary areas of work: process improvement, organizational goal setting strategy and alignment, systems management, and business intelligence.

WHY WE NEED YOU
We are inviting community-centered and data-driven leaders with a passion for visual analytics to drive transformative impact to apply for our Impact Data Manager role.

You will contribute to the organization’s ability to leverage data for good by leading organizational community-driven impact data initiatives through collaborative management of research and asset mapping, developing priority impact data visualizations through reporting and dashboards, and driving continuous learning and impact performance improvement through staff training and capacity building.

You will have the unique opportunity to showcase new ways to capture and explain progress on the emerging fields of community wealth and ownership as well as resident agency and belonging that will drive organizational impact in our efforts to build a better Los Angeles.

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE TO THE CAUSE

Impact Data Research & Analysis
o   Create and oversee overall UWGLA strategies on impact data integration and application across departments and systems, in coordination with other internal data leads and projects.
o   Lead stakeholders to build and agree upon the field of measures around community wealth building, community care, agency, and belonging.
o   Manage any connected contracts/consultants utilized to conduct research in support of organizational impact and operational priorities and strategic plan.
o   Review and advise impact team on the collection of impact data and key performance metrics connected to the programmatic priorities of the United Way.

Create and launch an extranet platform to host online data resources to support Neighborhood Network resident empowerment starting with Pico Union and scaling up to include additional neighborhoods of focus
Identify and recommend annual organizational impact metrics, create performance tracking process, and finalize design of impact measurement dashboard for stakeholders.
Build grant management infrastructure in CRM Fundraising & Engagement for centralized progress tracking and create two automated aggregate reports.

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED (The Must-Haves)
Education & Experience:
o   Bachelor’s degree required, a focus in the Social Sciences, Public Policy and/or related fields a plus; advanced degree in research focused field preferred.
o   Minimum 5 years of experience in evaluation, research or analysis focused function in a public agency, philanthropic foundation, non-profit experience, including advanced functions and formulas required.
o   Intermediate experience using Tableau, PowerBI, GIS, or other related statistical and visual analysis packages required.
o   Demonstrated experience with program performance evaluation and writing clear analysis to communicate complex concepts in a simple and effective manner required.

o   You have a strong commitment to learning, continuous improvement and innovation, an ability to facilitate internal and external learning and reflection sessions, and knowledge of culturally sensitive research and evaluation approaches.
o   You make numbers look good with charts, graphs, and visuals that represent all the key findings in all the right places.
o   You are great speaking in front of a diverse crowd of individuals and commanding the stage with engaging presentations.
o   You have an ability to collaborate with and coach people across all levels and skill sets.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU’RE A FIT (The Nice-to-Haves)
You’re experienced with data management and collection tools, including SQL queries and tables and CRM
You can project manage, project management! From the blueprint of an idea to outlining and seeing through actionable next steps – you love when a plan comes together.
You have a working knowledge of the root causes of and solutions to homelessness, affordable housing, education equity policies, and/or economic mobility trends / efforts.
You are a visionary thinker and not only imagine how things can be better, but actively pursue genuine solutions to getting there.
You value data analysis, visualization, and research as the backbone of your work and as a way to push the work of others further.
You know your way around the Microsoft Windows operating systems and all it’s essential programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
You are able to quickly and effectively find answers and solutions to complex data questions
You have a demonstrated ability to design and implement evaluation, research, and data projects targeted at low-income communities, including ability to evaluate policy systems change strategies.
You have a knowledge of local community issues in poverty prevention and/or intervention; proficiency in social science research, and measurement and design methods (qualitative and quantitative).
You have a strong technology background including ability to innovate and manage systems and processes for highest effectiveness and efficiency.
You can adapt to change and can help coach people through it as well.
You are driven by compassion and empathy and can demonstrate that in the way you engage with people and in the solutions you develop.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hiring Salary Range: $78,000-$83,500 dependent on internal equity and a variety of job-related factors including, but not limited to, experience, training, education, and market demands.
The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 403(b) plan, pension, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, paid holidays, and paid time off.
