The Edinburgh Futures Institute is currently seeking to appoint a Data Visualisation Engineer to support research in data visualisation across the University of Edinburgh through technical and conceptual advice as well as designing and developing data visualisations. This position is affiliated with VisHub - the Institute for Design Informatics’ interdisciplinary research lab and hub for research and teaching around data visualization.

We are looking for a candidate with both practical and research experience in data visualization design and development, and, ideally, experience in contributing to interdisciplinary projects through data visualization and conducting workshops in data visualization.

A successful candidate will:
– provide specialist support in the area of data visualization,
– guidance and advice for academic staff working within the disciplines of digital arts, digital humanities, digital social science, digital education and digital design, and beyond,
– guidance and advice on using digital techniques for data gathering, analysis or dissemination for traditional research,
– innovate technical solutions and rapid prototypes to support research and teaching across the University, and
– contribute to the skills development and capacity-building work across the University
