Website The Philadelphia Inquirer

At the Philadelphia Inquirer, we’re looking for an interactive designer.

We use visuals, code, and experience design to tell compelling stories in engaging ways. We create immersive storytelling formats, build special sections, visually explain investigative journalism, and art directed series. Our wide range of projects are roughly split 50/50 between collaborating with other desks in the newsroom and pitching our own projects.
The Inquirer is non-profit owned, unapologetically local, and fiercely independent. And our team produces some of its most high-profile projects. You’ll have the freedom to sculpt your role, pitch your ideas, and shape the future of digital storytelling in a major metropolitan newsroom.

We’re looking for someone who can create bespoke editorial experiences for our readers. Your portfolio demonstrates strong design work, innovative storytelling techniques and UX knowledge. You have a passion for storytelling and the issues that affect the Philadelphia area, and you would occasionally pitch your own stories. We need someone who can develop as well as design, so you should have basic familiarity with front-end web development. Ideally, you have a knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, React and Node, or at least a strong desire to learn.

You’ll be able to work from home, or come into the office with easy accessibility from public transit. We’re a union shop, and we’ve got great benefits. To apply, go to:
