Website The Philadelphia Inquirer
At the Philadelphia Inquirer, we’re looking for an Interactive developer to join our talented team.
We use visuals, code, and experience design to tell compelling stories in engaging ways. We create immersive storytelling formats, build special sections, visually explain investigative journalism, and art directed series. Our wide range of projects are roughly split 50/50 between collaborating with other desks in the newsroom and pitching our own projects.
The Inquirer is non-profit owned, unapologetically local, and fiercely independent. And our team produces some of its most high-profile projects. You’ll have the freedom to sculpt your role, pitch your ideas, and shape the future of digital storytelling in a major metropolitan newsroom.
We are looking for a developer who can create bespoke editorial experiences for our readers. Your portfolio should demonstrate strong design work, innovative storytelling techniques and UX knowledge. We’re looking for someone who can work with editors and reporters to help develop story ideas into design-driven-storytelling. We need someone who can design as well as develop. You’ll work with journalists to edit and inform story direction, shape how we communicate the narrative, and bring our stories to life. You’ll pitch stories you’re passionate about, and work with the newsroom to build them. You’ll occasionally build tools and scrapers to aid our journalism, and you’ll look for ways for our team to make better work, faster.
You’ll be able to work from home, or come into the office with easy accessibility from public transit. We’re a union shop, and we’ve got great benefits. To apply, go to:
