The candidate in this position will coordinate multiple aspects of the Pancreatlas™ imaging resource, a public platform created at Vanderbilt to bring together imaging data from human pancreas samples to accelerate diabetes-related research. The candidate will oversee project operations, including maintaining documentation and organizational structures, leading regular meetings and establishing milestones, developing data visualization and metadata fields for new data types, identifying potential connections and collaborators, and creating written communications for conferences, meetings, or general publicity within the research community. The candidate will also provide biological expertise for data curation and publication.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop creative outreach approaches to reach scientists, publishers, and funders
  • Identify and liaise with resources/groups for collaboration
  • Understand and critically evaluate scientific publications for collection of metadata
  • Communicate with prospective contributors and users about data submission
  • Oversee pipeline for data upload, from communicating with prospective contributors and reviewing data to standardizing and adapting metadata structures and identifying appropriate visualization tools for connecting imaging and omic resources
  • Working remotely is an option

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s or PhD preferred)
  • Familiarity working with biomedical datasets
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • Experience managing scientific projects with attention to detail
  • Background in life sciences, acquisition and analysis of imaging, single cell transcriptomic and/or epigenomic data preferred
