The Role:
Morning Consult is looking for a designer who specializes in data visualization to join our talented team of creatives to support data design efforts across multiple divisions. The Data Visualization Designer will work with our Editorial, Marketing, Operations and Client Services teams to present Morning Consult’s unique data in a beautiful, intuitive, responsive and accessible way. They will also work closely with the Design Director of Data Visualization to maintain data design standards and chart guidelines and create high-quality assets and designs for several projects and deliverables. Key deliverables for this role include data-heavy charts for analyst reports, interactive & static data visualizations, email/social media creative, maps, custom executive data presentations and product and brand chart styles.

The ideal candidate will be excited to visually tell stories through data using Morning Consult’s public opinion polling. The Data Visualization Designer will have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills from data visualization to building interactive web experience. Your work will be seen by a large, diverse audience across Morning Consult social media channels, email newsletters, and marketing/analysis touch points. You will work collaboratively in a team of other data visualization designers and creatives to produce compelling visual data solutions. Ideal candidates should have a drive for continuous learning and an ability to adapt to a fast-paced, data-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Work directly with the Data Visualization Design Director and stakeholders from Marketing, Industry Analysis, Client Services and Data Science to brainstorm and create dynamic data visualizations
• Design a wide range of deliverables including but not limited to interactive data visualizations, dashboards, maps, dynamic tables, interactive reports, email/social media charts and data-heavy presentations
• Support data visualization QA efforts across campaigns and collateral and assist the broader Creative team in custom visualization solutions
• Collaborate across divisions and teams to educate others on data visualization best practices and produce impactful, data-driven work

Desired Skills:

• 3-8+ Years of experience
• BFA/BA/BS degree or equivalent
• Online portfolio demonstrating data design experience is a must
• Ability to translate data into beautiful and clear visualizations
• Knowledge of best practices related to data visualization design, production, accessibility and interactivity
• Ability to apply consistent and functional brand guidelines across multiple media types while helping maintain brand standards
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, XD, Acrobat) and Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to take critique, criticism and instruction and apply suggestions appropriately
• Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments to meet critical deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and adapt to a variety of brands
• Bonus points for experience with Web Design, UI/UX, data animation, HTML/CSS, Highcharts or other JavaScript-based charting libraries
• Eager to learn and grow as a designer and constantly improve through continuous learning and feedback
