Website TheDataFace The DataFace

We turn data into interactive stories and analytics tools.

We’re The DataFace, a small (but mighty!) data visualization agency founded in 2017. We operate at the intersection of data science, journalism, and design, helping our clients transform data into interactive stories and analytics tools. As we continue to expand our agency, we’re looking to add a freelance designer to our team for at least the next three months. We envision them helping with graphic design, editorial design, and art direction across a few of our upcoming client projects.

You can apply for the job here.

Who You Are

As an information designer, you’ll need both strong design fundamentals and a creative approach. Your main focus will be designing branded assets, printed reports, and visualizations for several upcoming client projects. You should be comfortable working in Figma and know your way around design systems, typography, and layout. You’re able to balance complexity with clarity and effectively communicate information to different audiences.

Here are a few recent projects you might have worked on if you were already part of the team:

  • Laying out a PDF report and data-driven microsite for LAAUNCH.
  • Creating a variety of charts, maps, and other static assets for Instacart’s data blog.
  • Designing the interface for Equable’s Retirement Security Report.
  • Producing shareable assets for Strava’s Why We Run campaign.
