This is a 12 months post-doctoral research post (renewable for further 12 months) based in the Department of Informatics in conjunction with the Centre for Science and Security Studies, School of Security Studies, King’s College London. The post is part of a multi-disciplinary project with the ambitious goal of advancing the state-of-the-art in game based decision-support systems with a specific focus on monitoring nuclear weapons to inform future negotiated nuclear disarmament arrangements. The project will address the technical challenges involved in creating a game inspired platform capable of simulating and visualising key situations and unexpected scenarios associated with stockpile characteristics, such as: confirmation of location and status of weapons and material, weapon stockpile management processes and logistical and other operational factors. The system will provide for a better understanding of the contextual factors related to nuclear facilities and processes with respect to dismantlement verification strategies.
