Cornell University is seeking candidates for the position of Analytics Reporting Lead in the Graduate School.  The Analytics Reporting Lead is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and presenting critical information in support of informed decision-making in Cornell’s graduate fields, disciplines, and the Graduate School as a whole. The successful candidate will independently organize and manage a variety of data-related projects, and collaborate with university faculty, staff, and administrators to provide analytic information that supports continuous improvement in graduate education.

The ideal candidate would be a curious and creative data analyst who can keep the big picture in mind while maintaining attention to detail. We would love to find someone who enjoys investigating research questions, building sustainable data resources, and applying data communication best-practices to translate data assets into actionable insights.

This position participates in, coordinates and/or provides oversight for:

  • Integrating data from multiple complex datasets and databases to construct flexible and sustainable data sources for use in organizational analysis and reporting.
  • Creating descriptive and analytical reports, interactive data dashboards, and data visualizations to support planning and decision-making.
  • Analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and presenting data and findings to all levels of the university community.
  • Preparing datasets for external entities such as the Council of Graduate Schools, National Science Foundation, and National Institutes of Health.
  • Advising individuals and groups on ad hoc requests and special projects involving graduate education data.
  • Collaborating with other units on campus to support effective data sharing and ensure that data assets are appropriately accessible, usable, documented, and protected.

This position reports to the Graduate School Director of Assessment. Preference is for location in the Ithaca area; however, a remote worksite within New York State may be considered.  Worksite arrangements are subject to change to accommodate business needs. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills accompanied by the ability to clearly communicate methods and findings to a general audience.
  • Ability to extract and transform data from multiple complex datasets and databases using SQL.
  • Proficient with the manipulation and analysis of large and complex datasets.
  • Proficient with data visualization software such as Tableau.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative fashion with a variety of others.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in solving complex problems involving data.
