Role Summary:
As a Senior Software Engineer at Prefect, you will work on and lead projects that directly impact our users and customers, allowing them to gain insight into their workflows in real time. Our UI is the main interface for users, and needs to be optimized and performant, designed with the ability to handle and visualize millions of data points simultaneously.
You will coordinate with internal stakeholders, including our CTO and CEO, on new features and help Prefect execute our product roadmap. You will identify opportunities for improvement, build consensus, track risks and dependencies, and lead projects to completion. You will be a mentor and provide leadership to other members of the engineering team.
You will be an enthusiastic champion for user empathy across all our products. We expect our engineers to be product-focused and enthusiastic to take on new challenges and lead our product and culture forward.
You will report to our UI Team Lead, Jenny.
Expectations (you will):
– You will work with the UI team and the product and engineering organization to create data visualizations that make our users’ information meaningful, beautiful, and actionable
– You will contribute to the wider UI team goal of delivering a highly available, best-in-class web application for working with our open source and cloud products
– You will lead a motivated and winning culture and foster a collaborative working environment with other members of the engineering team
– You will not hesitate in taking ownership of your ideas and advocating for them
Qualifications (you have):
– Experience visualizing complex data
-5+ years experience working with JavaScript and TypeScript
– Knowledge of building scalable, modular user interfaces
– Genuine and uncompromising user empathy in design and implementation
– Experience with Python
Bonus Points (we’d like you to have):
– Familiarity with Vue 3
– Experience with common authentication methods such as OAuth or JSON Web Tokens
– Experience contributing to open source projects
– Experience in a start-up environment
– Experience with data engineering and data science workflows
– …and an understanding of how and when to “break the mold” when the best practice for Prefect deviates from an industry standard
