Your tasks at the RKI
Conduct scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence with a particular focus on Public Health, e.g.:
• Work independently on exciting research projects at the interface of AI, medicine and bioinformatics for the benefit of Public Health, e.g. in one of the following areas: Imaging, Climate and Societal Analytics, Visualization, Phylogenomics of Infectious Diseases, AI Fundamentals in Public Health.
• Collaborate across disciplines and departments within the RKI to combine and augment the RKI’s traditional expertise in the research of infectious and non-communicable diseases with and/or by using the methods of artificial intelligence, e.g., through:
o Comprehensive analysis of epidemics; further development of early warning systems; risk assessment of pathogens; optimization of disease burden calculations; automation of systematic reviews
o Visualization of complex correlations, Big Data analyses, automated analysis of high-throughput experiments in molecular biology, image and video analyses, and pattern recognition of complex public health data for above mentioned research projects, natural language processing, human-computer-interfaces.
Develop novel algorithms/methods, manage and integrate data and provide quality assurance for this work.
Coordinate above-mentioned research projects and support the acquisition of third-party funding
Supervision of junior researchers as required.
Preparation of scientific reports and publications, as well as assistance with science outreach/communication activities, e.g.:
Preparation of project and research reports
Publication of research results in national and international journals with high impact factor
Presentation of research results at national and international congresses
Close cooperation with colleagues in the context of the communication/events & public relations work of the ZKI-PH.
