Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and execution of high-value quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research, including formative and evaluative applications to support the design, implementation and evaluation of programs
  • Collaborate with Global Heads of Function and colleagues to develop and implement organizational research strategy and capabilities across multiple projects and programs
  • Guide and support global, cross-functional teams in defining and meeting project research needs, goals and objectives
  • Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in designing and deploying novel approaches to meet project needs, in alignment with larger organizational strategy and roadmap
  • Confidently present and facilitate discussion of research approaches, methodology and findings to clients, partners, and other non-technical audiences in a clear and well-structured manner
  • Engage effectively in broader project context discussion, planning and problem solving
  • Synthesize original research into talking points, memos, and/or presentations that can clearly and concisely explain the learnings
  • Proactively support business development opportunities, including developing compelling technical and analytic approaches to client needs and opportunities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience designing quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research demonstrating best practices in research methodology in the social impact sector
  • A background producing descriptive and statistical analyses to draw conclusions, and develop actionable insights and recommendations based on research results
  • Strong understanding of how to communicate complex research methodologies, findings and insights in a simple way for non-technical audiences
  • A passion for progressive issue-based or electoral activism and a belief in Purpose’s work combining storytelling, evidence, and innovation to inspire people to remake the world
  • A track record of working in agile, entrepreneurial environments similar to a tech startup, campaign, advocacy organization, agency or consultancy
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative environment, with the ability to manage projects effectively while maintaining positive & respectful relationships
  • Clear approaches to research, data analysis, and measurement & evaluation that center diversity, equity, and inclusion while also meeting project needs, and further our commitment to producing positive social impact
  • Hands-on experience collecting, cleaning, standardizing and managing data for research purposes
  • Expertise in R, Python or other equivalent statistical programming language is required
  • Familiarity with survey design, A/B testing, statistical modeling or field experiments helpful, but not required

  • Multiple quantitative and qualitative data collection tools/platforms (integrated using APIs)

Location: Global, but strong preference for candidates in the US, UK, India, Brazil, or Australia. This role has an option to be fully remote, or to work out of any Purpose office.

Reports to: Levi Braslow, Global Head of Impact, Measurement & Learning

Salary: $120,000 – $160,000. This role is a full-time exempt position, offered at the Senior Director tier, with additional variable compensation against co-determined parameters. If outside of the U.S., salaries will be commensurate with market value depending on the country.
