Behavioral AI company empowering the healthcare ecosystem

The need for tracking the wellbeing of youth in the United States has become increasingly important since mental health issues in youth are widespread and affect people from different backgrounds differently. However, there is a lack of standardized data sources that incorporate the experiences of youth populations experiencing health inequities, including BIPOC youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and those experiencing poverty. The aim of this project is to create a standardized national data pipeline that tracks the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of youth aged 10-24 in the United States, with a focus on experiences of BIPOC youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and youth who have experienced poverty. The data collected will enable better understanding, identification, and addressing of mental health issues among these groups.

Surgo Health has previously created the Maternal Vulnerability Index and COVID-19 Community Vulnerability Index with rich and dynamic data visualizations to drive awareness and action for maternal health and covid outcomes respectively.  The goal of this youth mental health tracker will be to produce new insights and recommendations for individual, state, and federal stakeholders and drive awareness of equitable youth mental health. We envision data visualizations that will weave together new data from equity-forward surveys, existing contextual data on youth mental health and vulnerabilities, and passively tracked data from social media. Data visualizations should be dynamic so that users can explore findings on youth mental health, especially highlighting views of marginalized and traditionally underrepresented youth (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and youth experiencing poverty).
